A MAN who stole £1,700 from his 92-year-old grandmother has been spared jail.
Stuart Adams, aged 34, of Vanguard Close, Elton, stole two cheques worth a total of £1,700 between January 1, 2011, and January 30, 2011.
On June 11, last year, Adams also stole a necklace worth £189 from her.
He appeared before Bury magistrates on December 30 last year and admitted two counts of theft.
On Tuesday magistrates sentenced Adams to six months in jail suspended for two years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of community service.
