AN elderly woman had to be rescued by firefighters after collapsing near her bedroom door.
The woman, aged in her 70s, had collapsed at her home in Naseby Walk, Whitefield, at about 5pm.
Firefighters from Whitefield fire station worked to cut the door open and free her, after receiving a call for help from paramedics.
The woman was then taken to hospital.
A spokesman for the fire service could not confirm the nature of her condition.
