A CHARITY which aims to ensure that no-one sleeps rough on the streets of Bury has benefited from the generosity of a local firm.

Bury Rough Sleepers (BRS) was singled out for support by DTE Business Advisers.

In June, DTE adopted BRS as its chosen charity for the month, with donations taking place every Friday.

Through partnership working, BRS are dedicated to making sure that anyone identified as a rough sleeper will not have to sleep out for another night.

DTE has now handed over a food hamper worth £75 from monetary donations, along with two sleeping bags. Throughout the month, they also collected and handed over food.

George Lovell, tax partner from DTE, said: "Bury Rough Sleepers was brought to our attention by a member of staff and adopted as our local charity. It’s rewarding to see the donations going straight to where they are needed most.

"In this day and age nobody should have to sleep on the streets, and Bury Rough Sleepers do a wonderful job ensuring this is the case. It was a privilege to be able to help contribute in a small way."

Janet O’Rourke, customer involvement officer for Bury Rough Sleepers, said: “We are truly humbled that DTE took the time to raise funds for the Rough Sleepers project, with every single item donated being put to good use. As the project works around the local area of Bury, we are grateful for the support of this local business, and it will really help those in the community dealing with the difficulties of homelessness.”

Through dedicated drop-in sessions, clear referral routes, and robust outreach services, Bury Rough Sleepers aim to provide a rapid response to find appropriate solutions to rough sleeping, and to offer person-centred support.
