TWO Bury families are to feature in a special film documentary which will be premiered at a showcase event next week.
Seven Home-Start charities working across Greater Manchester, including Bury, will host the event at The Lowry, Salford Quays, on Thursday September 3 to celebrate the difference their volunteers make to local families they support.
Funded by Lottery Good Causes, their "Telling Their Stories" event will highlight the vital, frontline work of Home-Start. Organisers say the aim is to send out a clear message that investment is vital for the future generations of local children.
The event will include the premiere of a short documentary film, entitled "Telling their Stories". Told through the voices of several families which Home-Start supports, the film looks at the journey the families have been on with Home-Start, who deal with around 1,700 children in the county.
There will also be photo essays displayed on the night; two families from Bury appear in the new film and one of the photo essays.
On the night, the charity will also be launching a Home-Start Greater Manchester website, where people will be able to find out more information on their work, how to get support, how to volunteer for, and how to fundraise for their new FIND (Families in Need Donations) appeal.
Businesses or individuals interested in supporting Home-Start, and whov would like to attend the event, should call 07801565623 or e-mail info@gmhomestarts.org.uk
