A TALENTED Bury student is helping to fight cancer while completing a placement at pharmaceutical giant Astrazenica.
Alicia Gordon is nearing the end of her time working as a medical researcher at the drugs manufacturer, based in Cheshire.
She has been involved with a cancer research project, where she is responsible for planning experiments, producing a company database and delivering presentations to the company’s board of directors.
Alicia, a former Harper Green School pupil in Bolton, is currently in the third year of her four year degree, studying biomedical science at the University of Manchester.
She previously gained A* grades in biology, chemistry and geography at Bury College.
After completing her undergraduate degree, she hopes to study for a PhD at the University of Oxford.
Alicia, aged 21, said: “I am really enjoying my placement and it is great to cover so many different areas. I loved my time at Bury College and believe that it prepared me for my time at university.”
