A PODCAST about Ramsbottom stunned its creator after it earned an international award.
Lee Ball, who lives in Ramsbottom, created his first podcast "This is Rammy" based in and around the town - and he admitted he had no high expectations.
But he was delighted to find it won in the Places and Travel category at the UK Podcasters awards earlier this month.
Lee said: “I started the first podcast for Ramsbottom back in March since finding there was nothing like it for the area.
“I enjoy listening to podcasts on my way into work in the morning and at the time, having recently moved to Ramsbottom, I wanted to learn more about it.
“There wasn’t anything though, so I started This is Rammy and couldn’t believe it when I actually won an award.
“It was something I started doing in my spare time. I never expected it to take off like it has.”
The 31-year-old IT manager has received hundreds of hits on podcasts interviewing local councillors and one clip was even recorded on Everest after the avalanche earlier this year.
Mr Ball, who lives with his wife Rachel and two-year-old son Luke, was up against a podcast covering Disneyland and one on the Isle of Wight.
