A Bury store became a health clinic for the day — for tortoises.
Customers calling in at Wilkinson on The Rock on Saturday saw a number of pets being checked over by a tortoise expert.
The animal weigh-in event takes place twice a year at the shop and is organised by the British Chelonia Group, which focuses on tortoise, terrapin and turtle care and conservation.
The organisation's northern area chairman John Thorpe said: "The event was a big success.
"Thirty one tortoises were examined during the day, which is fewer than the last event, but that is balanced by the appearance of several new tortoises."
He added: "No serious problems were detected and, thankfully, most of the animals were healthy.
"We are grateful to the store management for their co-operation, which stretches back 26 years, and to the owners and their animals for taking the time to attend."
Pet owners donated £109 to the group to help with its conservation work.
