FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a car hit a lorry in Unsworth.
The incident took place in Parr Lane close to the junction with Montgomery Drive at about 8am today.
Firefighters based in Whitefield and Broughton were called to the scene and cut the roof off the car before taking the driver and a passenger out on stretchers.
An air ambulance took one injured man to Wythenshawe Hospital while a man and a woman were taken to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment and another man was treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
A police spokesman confirmed the male driver of the car suffered a collapsed lung and a broken elbow, and a female passenger suffered a broken pelvis.
The other two passengers had minor injuries.
The road was closed until 2pm while police secured evidence and cleared the road of debris.
A fire service spokesman said: "We sent a technical rescue unit to the scene and our officers were there for about 50 minutes to help police and paramedics."
