FOOTBALLER Kieran Trippier paid a visit to his former school to celebrate their sporting success on Tuesday.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender left Woodhey School nine years ago but was invited back to hand out sporting awards.

The 25-year-old said: "It has been a real pleasure to come back to share their recent success and to see members of staff who taught me. A lot has changed since I left in terms of the facilities here and I am pleased to be a part of a fantastic school.

"I am really impressed with the amount of success Woodhey has had in so many different sports. Returning here today brings back some fantastic and happy memories."

Former Burnley player Kieran spent time having pictures with the excited pupils and signing autographs.

Assistant head teacher Howard Turner said: "It is always good to see past pupils return to share their success stories. We have all been following Kieran’s career since he left Woodhey knowing he was capable of playing at the highest level. It was kind of him to give up his time after such a long and demanding season, my colleagues and I were all delighted to catch up with him and to hear his thoughts about life at Spurs."
