SATURDAY night TV will get an injection of uptown funk from Bury this weekend.

Casualty regular, Amanda Henderson, former pupil at Bury Church School, will be starring in Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief alongside her BBC colleagues.

The 30-year-old, Tony Marshall, from Casualty, and Holby City's Chizzy Akudolu will be singing and grooving to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ smash hit Uptown Funk.

Amanda said she’s the most nervous she’s ever been.

She said: “I’m absolutely terrified, the most nervous I have been in my life. We are live on Saturday night and I have never done live TV before. I’ve done theatre but not live TV.

“I think all three of us are feeling the nerves.”

The trio have managed two rehearsals so far with a mini rehearsal with just Tony and Amanda. Their busy schedules and geography have kept the team from any more practices.

Amanda said: “It’s been really difficult because me and Tony work in Cardiff and Chizzy, who works on Holby, is in London.

“So, it’s been difficult to get the three of us together.”

Amanda hopes the audience vote may tip the scales for them on the night.

She said: “We’re doing okay I think, there’s some difficult competition, we will have to see what happens on the night.

“We are up against actual dancers from Strictly and actual singers from boybands. We are doing okay for three people who don’t really dance. We need the audience vote.”

You can watch Amanda in action on BBC1 on Saturday at 7pm when she and her fellow TV stars will go up against the likes of Pop Idol runner up Gareth Gates, Blue’s Duncan James and Strictly’s Ola Jordan.
