WORSHIPPERS young and old took part in an Easter service with a twist – by celebrating the sunrise.
Members of churches from across Ramsbottom, Edenfield and the North Bury districts gathered on Holcombe Hill to celebrate Jesus’ rebirth as the sun came up.
The service was organised by Ramsbottom and Edenfield Team Churches group, which brings together people from various churches in the area.
It was led by the Rev Andrew Lonsdale, minister at Greenmount and Dundee Lane United Reformed Churches, and wife Kath.
Mr Lonsdale said: “It was a beautiful morning and it really made you feel alive.
“It reminded you of the life God gives to us through Jesus.”
After the service, the group of around 30 worshippers went to Emmanuel Holcombe Primary School, in Ramsbottom, for bacon butties and cups of tea. The Rev Andy Lindop, team rector for Ramsbottom and Edenfield Team Churches, said: “It was very nice. Holcombe Hill is a lovely place to be and to worship together. If you were there at 7am it was clear and beautiful.”
