TWO primary schools in Ramsbottom are shut today because of the cold snap.

One of Ramsbottom's high schools is opening later to give pupils the time to get in.

St Joseph's RCP Primary and Peel Brow Primary Schools are both closed because of the weather.

St Joseph's RCP Primary School is shut today because its boilers are broken, leaving the building without hot water or heating.

A post shared on the school's Facebook page said: "School is closed today.

"All boilers are broken - no heating or hot water. Will keep you updated regarding tomorrow as soon as we know anything else.

"Apologies for the inconvenience."

Peel Brow has said it has chosen to close in order to keep pupils safe.

A message on its Facebook page says: "Peel Brow School is closed (Monday, February 12th) for health and safety reasons.

"The roads are hazardous and access for emergency vehicles would be extremely difficult. Please stay safe everyone."

Woodhey High School in Bolton Road West is officially opening at 10am.

However, if pupils arrive at their normal time arrangements have been made and they will be able to get in.
