THE M62 remains closed indefinitely from junction 20 (Rochdale) to junction 24 (Huddersfield).

Greater Manchester Police issued the following statement:

We are continuing to work with the military and our partners including Highways England to clear the roads and get people to safety.

Several road closures remain in place throughout Oldham and Rochdale and these include the following: · A672 Ripponden Road – Oldham.

· A640 Huddersfiled Road – Oldham.

· A635 Holmfirth Road – Oldham.

· Huddersfield Road – Rochdale.

· Wildhouse Lane – Rochdale.

· A58 – Rochdale.

The A62 through Oldham has now reopened.

These road closures remain in place for your safety.

We strongly urge motorists to adhere to ALL road closure signs as ignoring them could lead to further vehicles becoming stranded. This in turn could result in emergency services being diverted away from people who genuinely need their help.

There are diversions in place but these routes remain severely congested and we ask that you don’t travel unless it is absolutely essential as the strong winds are forecast to continue throughout the day.
