SEVERAL Bury supermarkets are to open special lanes for mums on Mother’s Day.
Morrisons stores across the borough will open mums-only checkouts to help speed up their shopping.
Checkout assistants will entertain children, asking them to identify products and see how tills operate.
Flowers will also be given to mums as they pass through the checkout as a thank you and to reignite the Mothering Sunday tradition.
The move follows Morrisons research revealing 37 per cent of mums will visit a supermarket on Mothers Day, and 20 per cent say the special day is over by noon.
Julie Thomson, a Morrisons store manager, said: “The reality of Mother’s Day is that some mums end up doing lots of chores. So, for mums who shop with us we want to serve them better by creating a ‘Mum’s Lane’ checkout.”
