A MEETING will be held next week to discuss plans to build 273 homes in Walmersley.
Developer Barratt Homes plan to submit an application to build 18 one and two-bed apartments and 255 two to four-bedroom houses on Bevis Green Works, the former site of Tetroysl, off Walmersley Old Road, by the end of March.
Outline planning permission for up to 275 homes was previously granted for the site in January 2012.
The public meeting has been arranged to allow residents to have their say on the plans, and representatives of the developer have been invited to attend, along with ward councillors and representatives from the council.
It will take place at Christ Church Walmersley Church Hall, in Walmersley Road, from 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 21.
North Manor councillor James Daly said: "I would urge all local residents to attend as this development will have a significant impact on Walmersley and the wider area.
“Numerous questions remain unanswered, should the site be retained for employment purposes? How will Walmersley Old Road and the local infrastructure cope with a minimum of 500 extra cars a day using it at peak hours? Where will the extra school places required be found? What impact will such large development have on neighbouring properties and the green belt which surrounds the site?"
