BURY boxer Scott Quigg will be running around a school field with pupils and staff as part of a new health initiative.
Quigg is launching 'The Daily Mile' at Guardian Angels' Roman Catholic Primary School in Leigh Lane. The school has recently joined the scheme, which encourages staff and pupils to undertake around 15 minutes of physical activity during the school day, to help hit their 60-minute target, recommended by the government.
Star guest Quigg will also lead a sports-themed assembly to kick-start National Sports Week, which begins on Monday.
Pupils at Guardian Angels' are enjoying daily 'Morning Move-It' sessions.
Today, they took part in a sports bootcamp and tomorrow they will use sticks to drum the floor as part of a 'pound' workout.
Louise Shaw, class teacher and PE curriculum leader, said: "It aims to make children fitter, healthier, happier and to have a positive impact on behaviour, mental health and concentration levels."
