RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on plans to demolish a block of stables to make way for a new "cat hotel" in Radcliffe.

Plans have been submitted to demolish 11 horse stalls at Shoreside Stables, in Prestolee Road and build a new cat boarding home in its place.

The proposals have been registered with Bolton Council and as part of the planning process, residents are invited to take part in a consultation.

A supporting document reads: "This application seeks to replace one existing stable block building on site with one new purpose built cat hotel building.

"The building to be demolished is a former livery stable building comprising of 11 stables and tack rooms. This building has now outlived its useful life, and the applicant no longer uses it as a livery stable due to its poor condition."

The applicant has outlined plans to create "a luxury high-end business".

If plans are approved, 19 large suites would be built to provide each cat with their own space measuring 6.6sqm, as well as two small holding pens.

The building would be insulated, doubled glazed, and have under-floor heating.

According to the applicant, "each suite will exceed the recommended size and all will have bay windows so the cats can enjoy the countryside views."

The applicant proposes accepting cats for a minimum stay of three days, and for a maximum stay of two weeks, and as such, states that traffic visiting the cat hotel will be minimal. Access would be via the existing private driveway from Prestolee Road.

The consultation closes on October 24. Comments must be submitted via Bolton Council's Consultee Intray. To view the plans, visit www.bolton.gov.uk/planapps and search application 04291/18.
