A NEW funeral parlour has opened in Ramsbottom, offering a ‘fresh, original way’ to arrange a loved one’s funeral.

Signature Funerals, in Bolton Road West, is jointly owned by former firefighter David Dawson and ex-police officer Hannah Vaughan, who both live locally with their respective families.

The pair say they want to offer clients the option to get away from ‘standardised’ funerals while still respecting the traditions of the past.

Hannah said: “We believe in giving people the choice of organising a funeral that truly reflects the life of their loved one.”

“It can be a simple, value-orientated ceremony, or a more complex tailored one.

“We will listen to your thoughts and wishes then assist you every step of the process to plan a celebration of their life in a unique way.”

Signature say that, in recent years, there has been a move away from the more traditional Victorian-style funeral arrangements for a more personalised service.

And although they will provide the more traditional funeral, they will also help organise and design more diverse and different arrangements.

“People may not realise that they do not have to hold a funeral service at a church or crematorium which may not always suit the needs of the family, said David.

“Ceremonies can be held at local sports clubs, pubs or the deceased’s favourite outdoor space.

“We can even organise a small candlelit twilight service at our facility which may be followed by a cremation or burial the following day.

“The options to arrange an individual funeral are endless and we would be happy to arrange weekend or evening ceremonies if that is your requirement.”

Signature Funerals also offer packages to support families on low income, claiming benefits or those who simply do not want a funeral service at all.

Hannah said: “Funeral poverty is a massive problem in this country and we feel very passionate about addressing this.

“Funeral Assist can offer families a funeral for as little as £700 plus third party costs and we don’t insist on families paying deposits”.
