BURY Hospice has opened its first clothing bank in a bid to generate more donations.

The clothing bank can be found in the car park of Tesco at Woodfields Retail Park, and any donations will then be sold in the hospice's six shops across the borough.

All proceeds from the shop go towards the hospice's work in looking after people living with an incurable illness, as well as supporting their families.

John Thirkell, Bury Hospice warehouse manager said: “We are really grateful to Tesco for allowing us the space for our clothing bank.

"The success of our charity shops is entirely due to the generosity of the general public, kindly donating their unwanted quality goods to the hospice.

"Having a clothing bank in such a great location will enable our supporters to donate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which is fantastic for those people who might struggle to get to our shops during trading hours”.

Chris Stewart, Tesco's general manager said, “ We have supported Bury Hospice in many ways over the years and are thrilled to help them yet again with this important retail initiative”.
