MAGISTRATES have sent a man to prison for 12 weeks after he threatened violence to force his way into a house.

Charles Roscow, aged 34, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at a property in Ferngrove, Bury, on January 30.

Manchester magistrates heard how Roscow already had convictions for previous similar offences and was not engaging with the probation service.

Roscow was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and was banned from contacting his victim.

A MAN caught dropping litter in Houldsworth Street, Manchester, has been fined £220 by Manchester magistrates.

The case against Jamie Newton, of Wellington Road, Bury, was proved in his absence and he was also ordered to pay £150 in costs and charges.

A METROLINK passenger who travelled without a ticket has been fined £220 plus £150 in costs and charges. The case against Jacob Hudson, aged 19, of Bradley Drive, Whitefield, was proved in his absence.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted damaging a window and CCTV camera in Bury on August 16.

Stephen Brunt, aged 25, of Barrett Court, Bury, changed his plea to guilty at Manchester Magistrates' Court and was also ordered to pay £130 in compensation plus £220 in costs and charges.

A MAN found guilty to stalking a woman in Trafford has been ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Travis Holness, aged 30, of School Grove, Prestwich, was found guilty following a trial at Manchester Magistrates' Court. He was also told he must pay £705 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Hulbote Close, Handforth.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 18 weeks after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Ramsbottom on November 17 last year.

The court heard that Robert Sheppard, aged 42, of Nuttall Close, Ramsbottom, has previous convictions for assaulting the same victim.

He was ordered to pay her £150 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her or going to Stubbins Lane.

A DRINK driver who was caught behind the wheel of a Peugeot 206 has been fined £440 and ordered to pay £129 in costs and charges. Jason Nicholas, aged 48, of Market Street, Tottington pleaded guilty to committing the offence on December 21 when he was driving on Littleton Road, Salford. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.

A CONDITIONAL discharge for six months has been handed to Liam Baker, aged 22, of Hawk Close, Bury, after he pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on August 27.
