DOZENS of over 70s were treated to an evening of entertainment thanks to the Rotary Club of Radcliffe.

In total, 133 residents aged 70 and over turned out to Dobbies Social Club in Bradley Fold for the annual Rotary Over 70s Variety Show.

The event featured performances by female operatic vocalists Northern Sopranos and country and western singer OJ Reynolds, as well as music from the 60s by Dreamboats and Petticoats.

Gillian Stainthorpe, secretary of Radcliffe Rotary, said: "As always a great time was had by all.

"There was much dancing. Some of the more adventurous started some line dancing to the country and western act and quite a few joined in.

"The event was generally acclaimed by the audience as a very good do, which made all the work done by the Rotarians both leading up to the event and during the event well worth the effort."

Food for the occasion on Thursday, February 7, was a hearty supper of potato pies and pies provided by Lancashire Fayre.

The event was supported by ASDA, who gave a generous donation ahead of the show.

A raffle was also held, with three lucky prize winners going home with £100 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers.

Mrs Stainthorpe said: "Radcliffe Rotary would welcome anyone who could help with occasions such as this and with their many other varied charitable projects, to join us either as a volunteer friend or as a member."
