A LISTED church is set to feature on Coronation Street tonight.

Viewers will see shots of the interior and exterior of St Andrew's Church in Radcliffe when they tune in watch the ITV soap.

Stars descended on the church in St Andrew's View for three days in mid-January to film a funeral.

Rev Joanna McKee said: "We’re really excited about the airing tonight.

"The cast and production team were brilliant to work with and really looked after the building and made those of us who were hosting a real part of the event.

"Coronation Street let us know that we will be on television this evening. There are two episodes and we don't know which one so we will have to watch both.

"At the time of filming, we had two real policemen on site as Corrie were filming an incident outside and they needed to be on hand in case the general public phoned up reporting violence in the graveyard!"

Coronation Street killer Clayton Hibbs was pictured looking battered and bruised as he filmed his dramatic return to the soap. Clayton was last seen on screen when he murdered David Platt’s wife Kylie in 2016.

It is believed the scenes see Clayton, who is played by Callum Harrison, out of prison as he's allowed to attend the funeral of a friend.

Clayton's mother Shona Ramsey, played by Julia Goulding, was pictured in a padded red coat for the shoot with Rev Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank.

While nearby St Mary's Church, in Prestwich, has been the location of many a Coronation Street wedding and funeral, this was a first for Grade II listed St Andrew's.

St Andrew's has recently undergone £17,000 worth of work, to redecorate the archway, install a new platform, remove asbestos and carry out repairs to the chancel.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
