IT was go go go at a Prestwich charity as a community room was transformed into a Grand Prix circuit for beaming youngsters.
Fourteen young attendee’s of The Fed’s Project Smile Play and learn groups put the pedal to the metal and spent an afternoon racing electric cars, bicycles and scooters at the Heathlands Village children centre.
All of the children at Smile have additional needs, including physical and learning disabilities, but the cars allowed even wheelchair-bound youngsters to join their friends.
Sara Ogden-Thompson from The Fed said: ““A large group of children had the time of their lives, especially in the brilliant cars. We laid a track with traffic lights, cones, policeman – and numerous speeding tickets were issued.
“It was just wonderful to be able to provide an environment and activity where they could play alongside their peers.”
The electric cars, bicycles and scooters were acquired thanks to Rays of Sunshine, Persimmon Trust and Key 103.
