A MAN has been jailed for 38 weeks after he assaulted a woman and contacted her in breach of a restraining order.

At Manchester magistrates court Roman Horvat, aged 37, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offences in Bury in February and March, damaging her mobile phone and possessing amphetamine.

The court heard that Horvat has shown a flagrant disregard for court orders.

In addition to the jail sentence, he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have fined a woman £80 after she dumped litter in her street on June 24 last year.

Sofia Younis, aged 41, of Hurst Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also ordered to pay £150 in costs and charges.

A BURGLAR who stole machinery, worth £2,500, from a garden shed on January 7, has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court James Keenan, aged 33, of Thompson Avenue, Ainsworth, pleaded guilty.

He was ordered to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work and participate in a thinking skills programme for 19 days and rehabilitation activities for 15 days.

Keenan must also pay £1,000 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a woman to a suspended prison sentence after she contacted people in breach of a restraining order and went to Radcliffe Primary School and Bridgefield Street on January 28.

She had denied making contact in breach of the order but was convicted after a trial at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

Lisa Bland, aged 26, of Farrington Drive, Radcliffe, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered to have treatment for alcohol addiction.

She must also participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

A THIEF who stole a woman’s £17,000 Toyota Yaris on February 6 has been fined £120 by magistrates.

Mark Abbot, aged 34, of Lichfield Drive, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

He was made subject to a community order with 15 days of rehabilitation activities and 21 days on the thinking skills programme.

He must also pay £100 in compensation plus £170 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a woman to20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months after she admitted assaulting another woman in Bolton on May 9 last year causing her actual bodily harm.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Gabrielle White, aged 20, of Walmersley Road, Bury, also pleaded guilty to damaging the woman’s phone and assaulting a man on November 5.

She was ordered to pay her £400 in compensation and participate in 18 days of rehabilitation activities.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 17 months after he was found guilty at Bolton Magistrates Court.

Jamie Davis, aged 31, of Woodley Avenue, Radcliffe, had drunk more than twice the legal alcohol limit when he was caught driving a Ford Transit van on Stoneclough Road, Kearsley, on June 18.

He was also fined £180 and ordered to pay £620 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
