HUNDREDS of people turned out for an afternoon of fun at Greenmount’s annual village party.

Festivities took place across the village, with dozens of stalls selling items including plants and cakes.

Meanwhile, an art exhibition was held at the Greenmount United Reformed Church, a collector’s fair at Greenmount Old School, and a BBQ at the cricket club.

Organised by Greenmount Village Community on Monday, May 6, the event is now in its ninth year and helps to cover the group’s annual running costs.

Event organiser Bob Judge hailed the event a success. He said: “The weather was unkind, but it was still as busy as in previous years.

“The feedback has been great. It is the main event of the year for the village and it helps to bring people together.”

Preparations are already being made for next year’s event when it is hoped the next stage of the village’s playground can be unveiled.

Work is expected to begin on the project, which it is hoped will include a zip wire, table football and outdoor chess boards, later this year.
