Now visual essayist and data website The Pudding has unveiled a list of the most Wikipedia’ed celebrities from every UK town.

Some will come as no surprise, while others are more oft unrecognised famous faces. But can you guess which of the borough’s most famous sons and daughters have come out on top.

Actor and former glamour model, Gemma Atkinson, was the most searched for Bury celebrity.

The star, most famous for roles in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, studied a Castlebrook High School and is currently expecting her first child with Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Marquez.

Ramsbottom’s most Wikipedia’ed figure was British Prime Minister and founder of the modern police force Sir Robert Peel.

Sir Robert was the son of a wealthy textile merchant and politician and is honoured with a statue at The Rock.

Tottington’s most Wikipedia’ed celebrity is Coronation Street and Emmerdale actor Vicky Binns.

And of no surprise, Oscar award-winning film director Danny Boyle is Radcliffe’s most Wkikpedia’ed

In the south of the borough, children’s novelist Dorothy “Dodie” Smith is Whitefield’s most searched-for figure.

Dodie’s most famous work is the much loved One Hundred and One Dalmatians, which was adapted into a film by Disney in 1961.

Down the road in Prestwich comedian, actor and writer Victoria Wood took the Wikipedia title.
