A BUS company has been unable to serve the Ramsbottom area for three days due to a burst pipe in the town centre.

Rosso, which operates in Ramsbottom, Bury, Rochdale and Rossendale, apologised for being "unable to serve Ramsbottom" since Thursday.

Its Red 4 and 477 services are still unable to serve the Market Place bus stop out of Ramsbottom but have otherwise returned to a normal timetable. The company thanked customers for their "patience and understanding."

The Bury Times previously reported that a burst main in Market Place had caused several businesses to flood.

United Utilities said they were investigating the cause.

Rosso bus tweeted today: "We are happy to report that our Red 4 and 477 will now be serving Ramsbottom.

"We are unable to serve the Market Place bus stop out of Ramsbottom as we are having to divert via Crow Lane and Bridge Street. Passengers can board at the turning circle or normal stops in Bolton Road."

On Thursday, they said the "burst water main in Bridge Street" was causing delays to the two services.

A road closure later prevented the buses from serving the village at all, with the routes instead diverting at Nuttall Lane.

The company also tweeted today: "We would like to thank all our customers for their patience and understanding over the last few days whilst Ramsbottom has be unserved."
