OVER the next few months we will be dipping into the wedding albums of Bury couples who have tied the knot and finding out more about the happiest day of their life.

Names: Stephen and Sarah Gibbs

Ages: 32 and 42

Lives: Brandlesholme

What did you think when you first met each other?

We met on a night out in Propaganda in Bury in April 2017.

Stephen thought I was a bit crazy and a bit scary! I thought he seemed like a nice bloke.

The proposal:

We got engaged in January 2018 within nine months of meeting.

Stephen planned on asking me to marry him on our planned trip to Florida in May 2018.

However, one night in January he went to the Trafford Centre with a friend and our girls Imogen, aged 12, and Ella, aged eight.

He saw a ring he loved and wanted to get it.

He phoned my dad to ask for his permission to marry me to which he replied: "You have my blessing but don't be surprised if she says no."

He bought the ring and realised on the way home in the car (with two very excited girls in the back) that there was no way they would be able to keep it secret.

He arrived home and shouted Kieran, aged 15, and Dex, aged 11, down from upstairs and the girls entered giggling.

I didn't know what was going on and then he proposed at home with the four children watching. It was lovely and very emotional.

Bury Times:

The wedding day:

We got married at Paradise Cove in Florida on October 10 this year followed by a meal at Toledo Restaurant on the 16th floor overlooking Orlando.

It was relaxed, different and very 'us'.

Besides me, Stephen and the four kids there were six other guests on the day.

What are your favourite memories of the day?

Straight after the wedding ceremony we jumped on the jet skis at Paradise Cove in all our wedding gear and went around Lake Bryan.

After the ceremony we also went to Walt Disney World and had pictures taken on the Tower Of Terror and Rock 'N' Roller Coaster ride in our wedding gear.

Having my daughter Imogen record her own version of Wonderwall for me to walk down the aisle to was also a really memorable moment as well as getting the giggles during our vows.

Bury Times:

Did you go on a honeymoon?

We decided to get married in Florida so we could take the kids and have a family holiday. What it would have cost us for one day in the UK we had 3 weeks away!

Our relationship:

We both love to have fun and do things that are a little bit different.

We work well together as I restrain his outrageously spontaneous side and he encourages me to not sweat the small things.

We are best friends and trust each other like we've never trusted anyone else before.

Would you like to tell us about your wedding?

If you're a Bury couple who got married in 2019 we would love to hear from you.
