A man is being treated for injuries after an incident on the M60.
Emergency services were called to junction 17 at Whitefield and Prestwich following reports a man had fallen from the bridge.
North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said that a rapid response vehicle, an air ambulance, a road ambulance and an operational commander were called to the scene.
The man was taken to hospital.
Highways England tweeted about the incident, saying police closed off three lanes clockwise.
They said: "Traffic Officers and ambulance crews are on scene.
"Traffic police and motorway police are on scene."
They later put out another tweet, saying there were '30 minute delays' with four miles of queueing traffic.
All lanes are now believed to have been reopened.
A GMP spokesman said: "Police are responding to reports a man has fallen from a bridge above the M60 on the clockwise side near junction 17.
"The man’s injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening."
