A GROUP of retired women have been busy producing their knitted creations to bring joy to children and adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

In the run-up to Christmas, the 16 senior retired women who form Tottington Knit and Natter Group have used their skills to shape dozens of woollen masterpieces.

The creatives have even produced a completely knitted nativity, featuring sheep, wise men and shepherds.

All of their hand-crafted items have either been donated to charities, or sold to help raise money for charity.

Many of their gifts were recently sold at a Christmas craft fair, which helped to raise £560 for Bury Hospice.

Established more than five years ago, the group also knits for Francis House Children's Hospice, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital and Fishermen's Mission, which supports active and retired fishermen.

The Tottington Knit and Natter Group meets at the Tottington Centre on Monday afternoons between 2pm-4pm.

Donations of wool are gratefully received.
