FIREFIGHTERS have been rushed to the scene of a large fire at a scrapyard in Bury.
The blaze was reported to emergency services this evening (Thursday) and is thought to be in a compound off Pimhole Road, near Openshaw Park.
A team of firefighters from Bury Fire Station were called to the scene at around 6.15pm and are currently battling to extinguish the flames.
They have been joined by four other crews.

🚪 Please keep your windows and doors shut as a precaution and avoid the area where possible
Witnesses reported seeing the flames rising and hearing sirens from more fire engines which appeared to be travelling to the area.
The fire can be seen from miles away.

A representative from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) warned residents living nearby to keep doors and windows closed as a precautionary measure.
