POLICE have warned homeowners over a "bogus workman" visiting homes in the Elton area of Bury.

The man is thought to be posing as a repairman for electric wheelchairs and has targeted at least one home by saying he is there to check the chair is still under warranty.

The owner of the property confirmed the man was a fraud by calling the manufacturers of the item and then contacting police with a warning.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman for GMP said: "The male was on his own, he had no ID, was white and approximately 45 to 55 years old, with a stocky build and wearing a smart black coat.

"Please be vigilant when answering the door."

Anyone with information on the incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
