How long have you been the landlord/landlady for? We signed on July 31 - and it is our opening today.

How many bar staff? Seven altogether.

Give us some history about the pub: The Tubs is steeped in history. It is possible to see the original wattle and daub wall construction through a window behind the front bar. Part of the building is composed of two cruck beam cottages which date back to Tudor times. Parts of the cellar are even earlier, dating back to the medieval settlement of Bury. At the heart of town, nestled between the site of Bury Castle and the beautiful 19th century Gothic Revival Parish Church, The Two Tubs is sole survivor of many traditional beer houses which once enclosed the original 15th century market site before it was relocated in 1839.

‘The Globe Inn’, the original name of The Two Tubs, was first licensed as an ale house in the early 1800s. In 1830 the landlord Mr. Shaw and ‘Owd Rudgy’ of the Toasted Cheese Club responded to competition from the neighbouring Old White Bear’s new signage by sawing a barrel in half to form a globe. The hoops and staves were intended to represent the lines of latitude and longitude. The Two Tubs’ nickname remains to this day. (The Old White Lion was eventually demolished to make the Beer Garden of the Two Tubs.)

Is food served? If so what’s on the menu? At the moment on a Monday we do hotpot and Sunday we will have a BBQ, weather permitted. Once our new kitchen is fitted we will be introducing a new menu.

Is there a beer garden? Yes it’s of medium size and there are plans for an extension.

Most popular drink served is: For our fusiliers it’s pints of Carling and the women like a Parma violet gin or a Sauvignon Blanc.

Most memorable moment at the pub: It is always Remembrance Day we do a specialised menu and there is always a good atmosphere.

Do you have an entertainment line-up? We have acoustic music in the beer garden whilst the restrictions are in place and we are planning get live music back when we can.

The best thing about running a pub is... The community spirit the people here and the regulars company... you see them more than your own friends.

The worst thing about running a pub is... The early mornings and late nights.

The perfect hangover cure is... For me (Leah) it’s Lucozade original and lots of carbs.

Any other information: We are running a few promotions at the moment, we will be doing Military Monday, for military men to get together to chat and open up to each other, we will offer free port and a discount on draft ales and Carling.
