AN intrepid schoolgirl from Bury is looking to walk 10,000 steps each day - in memory of her stillborn cousin.

Ten-year-old Faith Pepperday had been looking forward to the arrival of cousin Hattie Bluebell Cook in August.

But when Hattie was tragically stillborn - and the wider family was supported by SANDs, the specialist charity, she knew what she had to do.

The Holly Mount Primary pupil is now dedicating herself to walk 10,000 steps every day during October for the charity.

Her mum Sarah said: "She was looking forward to having a new cousin to look after.

"SANDs have supported my sister, Faith’s auntie, in the time since we lost Hattie and Faith wanted to do something positive in her memory and as a thank you for the support we have received as a family."

Faith, who lives in Tottington, had set herself a target of £100 but has already reached the £575 mark. Donations can be pledged via her online site - https://www.facebook.com/donate/1121582151572579/
