SIX Town Housing's Community Heroes awards have launched again and are now open for nominations.

The awards, which aim to celebrate the amazing work of community groups and neighbours, will be an online event live-streamed in February 2021.

This year’s categories include an award that celebrates those aged 60 and above who show real passion and drive in supporting their community; Best Community Project; Amazing Neighbour/group; Young Superstar; and Local Hero of 2020.

The winners of each category will win a £100 shopping voucher and trophy, plus receive special recognition in the online awards ceremony.

Everyone who is shortlisted will receive a pack containing a raffle ticket plus treats to enjoy while they tune in to the broadcast, as will those people who nominated them.

Last year, more than 100 people attended the event held at the Fusilier Museum in Bury. With the event now going online, many more people can join and celebrate those who support their community.

Sharon McCambridge, chief executive of Six Town Housing, said: “We love hearing about all the great things that happen within neighbourhoods through the Community Heroes Awards every year and we're delighted to be able to showcase them online this year, hopefully to a wider audience than before. This last year has highlighted just how many ordinary people can carry out extraordinary things for their neighbours so this year’s nominations are going to be very special.”
