A HOME gym built by a former personal trainer is opening this week for people of all ages and abilities.

Sharon Roebuck, 41, started Shazra gym in Bury after having her first son and discovered a passion for fitness.

She worked a personal trainer for a number of years, before deciding the time was right to have her own gym, after hearing complaints, during her time as a personal trainer, from women having bad experiences in gyms, particularly with men staring.

Sharon said: “The most important thing about being fit is that it can turn your life around.

“It can impact your relationships with people and make you a stronger person, both mentally and physically and you end up happier than ever before.

“I want to help other people get to that point in their lives where they feel healthy and strong, and be a positive impact.

“To open the gym now in my very back garden feels like my dreams have come true, and I’ve found my passion and am finally in a place where I can live that out.”

Sharon put the garden gym together by buying Olympic bar weights, a marquee and hopes to build up her facilities.

Her fitness programmes and instruction focuses on weightlifting, muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness, as well as diet consultation.

The moniker Sharon chose for her gym and business, Shazra, was inspired by the character, She-Ra from the popular cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

A complimentary consultation is compulsory before any personal training sessions can be made, which is free, but failure to cancel within 24 hours will result in a charge of the hourly rate of £25.
