TRAMS on the Bury line have ground to a halt this evening after vandals smashed windows on three separate services.

As a result, no services are currently running between Bury and Whitefield until further notice to ensure passenger safety.

A Manchester Metrolink spokesperson said: "Due to acts of vandalism, three trams have been subjected to smashed windows in the Radcliffe bank area.

"Due to this and for the safety of our passengers, there are no services operating between Bury and Whitefield until further notice."
