A CIVIC service will be held for Remembrance Sunday in Bury.

Mayor Cllr Tim Pickstone will leader the parade from the town hall at 10.30am to Market Place.

A two minutes silence will be observed and wreaths left by several groups.

This will be followed by a short service at Bury Parish Church and march past en-route to Castle Armoury.

Further services are scheduled to take place in Radcliffe, Prestwich and Tottington, among other locations.

The ceremony at Radcliffe will be on Saturday from 10.45am at the memorial gardens.

The minute's silence and Last Post will be followed by a rendition of 'Pie Jesu' by singer Sarah Dennis before the party retires to the market for tea and coffee.

Meanwhile representatives from Bury Grammar School have been assisting Bury Fusiliers Museum for the installation of a poignant reminder of the borough's wartime sacrifice.

School helpers have been busy planting 540 silhouettes in the memorial garden beside the Moss Street museum.

The silhouettes represent the 5,431 lives which were lost locally in the First World War.
