A NINETEEN year old has been arrested after a shop was robbed.

The Village Convenience Store on Middleton Road, Heywood was robbed by a man wearing a black face mask who appeared to be armed with a gun on Friday November 26.

Police offices were called at around 2.10pm and found that cash and cigarettes had been stolen from the shop.

Officers working on a separate incident then recovered an "imitation firearm" near the scene of the robbery on November 27.

According to Greater Manchester Police, a 19 year old has since been arrested.

He is now in custody and being questioned on suspicion of robbery.
