A YOUNG Greek pianist will be showcased in the latest of the lunchtime concert series hosted by Bury Parish Church.

Ellada Angelina Pavlou is studying for a masters at the Royal Northern College of Music under Murray McLachlan.

And her performance at The Rock church tomorrow, Friday, from 12.45pm, will include works by Chopin and Rachmaninov.

Ellada has been studying music since the age of five and had lessons from acclaimed acclaimed pianists like Nikolai Demidenko, Peter Donohoe, Barry Douglas, Stephen Hough, Leon McCawley, Hamish Milne, Pascal Roge and Martino Tirimo.

Refreshments will be available at the church from 11.30am and the concert admission is £5.

Before now she has won prizes in several competitions, including a first prize and a scholarship at Kozani International Music Festival, a second place at the Pan-Hellenic Competition and a third-place and a scholarship at the Philadelphia International Music Festival.

She was also a finalist in the 2017 Intercollegiate John Longmire Beethoven Piano Competition.

Ellada is a regular soloist performer and also appears in chamber music. She formed 'Duo Haliotis' with Christos Fountos and is currently a member of the Northern Film Orchestra.

She has also played as an orchestral pianist with Trinity Laban Winds Orchestra and performed at the Athens Concert Hall, Monteverdi Conservatory and as a guest artist at the Concerti del Tempietto Festival in Rome.

In the UK, she has performed both with her duo and in solo at the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building in Oxford, the Pushkin House, the Polish Heart Club, the Hellenic Centre, the Royal Academy of Arts in the frame of the Oceania exhibition 2018 and St.Bride’s Church in London.
