A PAIR of serial burglars - who targeted homes in Bury, are now starting lengthy jail terms.

Five homes were targeted by Wayne Farrell and Sean O'Sullivan at the start of 2019, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

One raid in Troutbeck Close, Bury, saw the duo flee with jewellery and keys to a VW Tiguan car. The car was taken by the raiders.

A further break-in followed in Halifax, which saw designer clothing stolen alongside two vehicles - a Vauxhall Mokka and a VW Polo.

Then days later the pair walked away with a Jaguar XK car and jewellery with sentimental value from a property on Summerseat Lane.

This was followed by a burglary, in Shaw, near Oldham, in March 2019, with a car again stolen.

Detectives were eventually able to link all four raids and swooped on the homes of Farrell and O'Sullivan.

Police found the various stolen items at Farrell's home in Stoneyvale Court, Rochdale, including car keys and mobile phones, alongside a selection of crow bars.

Another raid on O'Sullivan's home, in Wasp Mill Drive, Wardle, uncovered some of the jewellery taken from Summerseat Lane, among other items.

Farrell, 38, was jailed for nine-and-half years and O'Sullivan for eight years after admitting to conspiracy to burgle.

Later Det Insp Roger Smethurst, of GMP’s serious and organised crime group, said: “Farrell and O’Sullivan stole whatever property they could lay their hands on, without a thought to the financial and psychological impact their crimes were having."
