A TRIO of concerts will take place at Bury Parish Church in the next nine days - including one in solidarity for people in Ukraine this week.

On Thursday, Bury Fire Choir and Encore Youth Fire Choir will be performing at the church, situated on The Rock, at 7pm for an "evening of music and reflection" amid the continued conflict after the Russian invasion.

The choir will be singing songs based on the themes of hope and solidarity at the free concert.

Those who attend are also asked to wear blue and yellow, the colours of Ukraine's national flag.

People will also be asked to donate money that will go towards providing humanitarian aid for Ukrainians.

The following day, on Friday, an award-winning musician from South Korea will be playing at the church.

Pianist Yulim Jang, who has won several accolades in her own country, scooped first prize at the New York International Young Musician Competition and the Charleston International Music Competition.

As well as a skilled solo performer, she has collaborated with a number of orchestras, including the University Symphony Festival and the Ulsan Buk-gu Orchestra.

Yulim is currently studying a masters piano course at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Yulim will be showcasing her talent at the church at 12.45pm on Friday.

Then on Thursday, April 7, the world famous Black Dyke Band will be entertaining the church audience at 7.30pm.

The group have been regular performers at the church in previous Aprils.

Next week, the world famous Black Dyke Band returns to perform in Bury Parish Church.

Among their achievements, they are the most successful contesting band in the world after winning a huge amount of honours over the years.

International-renowned performer Professor Nicholas Childs serves as the band's principal conductor and director of music.

Tickets to watch Yulim Jang are priced at £5 on the door and refreshments will be available from 11.30am.

Tickets for Black Dyke Band cost £12 for adults and are £6 for children aged 16 and under and can be bought online at www.buryparishchurch.com/blackdykeband or in the church on Friday and Saturday.
