VANDALS are believed to have taken an angle grinder to an interactive trail and damaged a key feature of it only a week after the attraction opened.

A family finished the Chesham Woods Quest trail only to discover a golden egg, usually locked away in a box, had been forced out and stolen.

It is thought the yobs used an angle grinder to get into the box.

The not-for-profit organisation, The Sunnywood Project, has since had to fork out £250 to repair the damage in a trail that is promoting the love of the outdoors through the free physically and mentally stimulating quest.

Before the vandalism, more than 230 people had completed the Chesham Woods Quest with many stating that the activity had guided them to places and along paths they never knew existed.

The quest allows families to select directions on their phones as they search for a Golden Dragon Egg that has been locked inside a hidden chest.

Once families have successfully navigated to the site, they would be given a code to unlock the chest via the wizard.

After finding the egg, many families have shared their success through photos on The Sunnywood Projects Facebook page.

While the missing egg has since been found, the project dealt with the situation in high spirits, publishing a breaking news style video from the wizard and the dragon.

Bury Times:

The puppets detailed what had happened, that they were working to replace the egg and that the dragon had to go through the 10-hour process of laying a new egg.

They apologised to the adventurers at home, promising it would be back up and running in no time.
