A mother and daughter will be showcasing their musical talent at Bury Parish Church on Friday afternoon.

Pianist Rosemary Robinson and her daughter, viola player Laura Robinson, will be taking to the stage at the town centre church at 12.30pm.

They have been performing together for more than 20 years, giving recitals across the country on period and modern instruments.

They are looking forward to returning to the church with a programme of French music spanning 250 years from the early baroque with Marin Marais through the romantic period with Faure and Vieuxtemps to the early modern with Debussy, Ravel and Milhaud.

Laura studied viola with Robin Ireland, among others, and the recorder with John Turner.

She graduated with a first-class degree in music in Manchester and went on to hone her skills at the Royal Northern College of Music the following year.

She has freelanced with orchestras such as Manchester Camerata, Sinfonia Cymru and Baroque in the North.

She now lives in Bolton, where she teaches both viola and recorder.

Rosemary read music at Newnham College in Cambridge and now lives in Rugby, where she teaches piano and is much in demand as an accompanist, both on piano and spinet.

Tickets cost £5 and will be available to buy on the door.

The church is open from 11.30am, when refreshments will be on sale.
