Bury Hospice is helping grieving relatives create free interactive memorials to their loved ones.

We have teamed up with online memorial charity, MuchLoved to help bereaved friends and family members build personal tribute web pages in memory of a loved one, while supporting the hospice.

MuchLoved is a charitable trust that was founded by Jonathan Davies in 1998 following the death of his brother and shortly afterwards his mother.

At the time he found very little resource online to help with his own grief, so Jonathan was inspired to design a web-based tribute service for others to use.

It is free of charge to set up a tribute page and once setup you can invite friends and family to join the page and choose the types of contributions people can leave.

Throughout the year you can celebrate key moments and dates by lighting a candle, uploading photographs, videos, music, a biography and donating in their memory.

Anyone who would like more information on our tribute pages can visit https://www.buryhospice.org.uk/give-in-memory or to set up a tribute page simply follow the link https://buryhospice.muchloved.org/CreateMemorial

Running alongside our tribute pages is our summer memorial campaign, where you can dedicate a bird in memory of someone special.

The hospice has commissioned a limited number of birds that will be created by GJ Plastics in Radcliffe.

The birds will be made using acrylics and will be produced in a mix of the following hospice colours- blue, green, orange, pink, purple and yellow.

The birds are to appear on a memory tree in the centre of Bury, with each bird carrying the name of a loved one written on the back of each bird in indelible ink.

We are inviting everyone to take part in our summer memorial, which will take place in August.

Anyone can dedicate a bird, you don’t have to have experienced our care first hand at the hospice.

All of the birds will be on display and once the display has ended, the birds can either be collected from the hospice or will be posted to you.

Memories stay with us forever and we hope our memory bird appeal will help our supporters remember and celebrate the lives of someone special to them.

To purchase a bird, visit https://www.buryhospice.org.uk/events/memory-birds or call the fundraising team on 0161 797 1748.

We are asking for a suggested donation of £15.

Dedicating a tribute like this provides great comfort to people who have lost loved ones and it also supports the hospice to continue to deliver first-class end-of-life care and support to patients and their families across Bury.
