A men’s suicide prevention charity will celebrate its continuing growth with a football match at Gigg Lane which will be free to attend.

Andy’s Man Club in Bury will go head-to-head against its fellow organisation's group Rochdale at noon on Sunday, August 14.

The charity aims to celebrate men coming together, talking and developing a network of support.

The aim of the group is to reduce the rate of suicides among men by talking in a judgement-free confidential space through weekly, free-to-attend peer support groups.

Jacob Critchley, facilitator at Andy Man Club helped to organise the match.

His mum, Angela Critchley, who is also helping by promoting the match, said: “Just turn up. Bring your dads, brothers, uncles grandads, friends, anyone.

“Everyone has really banded together to put this match on.

"It is just to talk and attend the group no matter how big or small your problems may seem.”

Doors open at 11am and kick-off will be at noon.

Entry to the 90-minute game will be free and attendees will also be able to watch Bury Women’s team play after the match.

By organising the event, the club hope more men will speak up and potentially join their growing group.

Andy's Man Club in Bury is situated at Bury Sports Club on Radcliffe Road.
