A round-up of cases heard by magistrates recently

Breath sample

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for three years after he failed to provide police with a breath sample on March 4.

At Wigan Magistrates’ Court Adam Cooper, aged 34, of Seymour Street, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty after initially denying committing the offence.

Cooper was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. He must participate in 12 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £728 in costs and charges.

Driver identity

A USED car dealership which failed to name the driver of a BMW M4 to police on January 10, 2020, has been fined £1,000.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Panacea Motors Ltd, based at Tile Street, Bury, was convicted of committing the offence and was also ordered to pay £185 in costs and charges.

Woman assaulted

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for eight months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on July 22.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Curtis Carruthers, aged 34, of Milton Road, Radcliffe, was told that he had failed to comply with the probation service after convictions for other offences and there is a high risk of him committing serious harm.

Carruthers was also ordered to pay £128 towards the costs of funding victim services.

Litter fines

A WOMAN has been fined £1,173 after she left litter in Milltown Street, Radcliffe, of October 8 last year.

In a case brought by Bury Council, Hannah Entwistle, of Milltown Street, was convicted of the offence at Manchester Magistrates’ Court and also ordered to pay £493 in costs and charges.

In a separate case, Bryn Real, of Myrtle Street, Bury, was ordered to pay the same after he was convicted of fly-tipping waste in Myrtle Street on October 20 last year.

And Maria Stewart, aged 46, of Mitchell Street, Bury, was given the same penalty for leaving waste at the rear of Mitchell Street on September 20 last year.

Train journey

A TRAIN passenger who failed to pay a £4.30 fare for a journey from Manchester Airport to Piccadilly on January 18 has been fined £220 by Manchester magistrates.

Yannick Ossissa, aged 33, of Walshaw Road, Bury, was convicted of the offence and also ordered to pay £118.30 in costs, charges and compensation.

No licence

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £160 after he was caught driving a Vauxhall Astra on Keswick Drive, Bury, without a licence or insurance.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Jonathan Gibbons, aged 31, of Keswick Drive, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on December 6 last year and was also ordered to pay £124 in costs and charges. Eight points were added to his driving record.

Mercedes driver

A MAN has been found guilty of failing to name a Mercedes driver to police on November 10, 21.

Mohammed Ali, aged 46, of Redmere Drive, Bury, had denied committing the offence.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court he was fined £180 plus £234 in costs and charges. Six points were added to his licence.

Driver banned from roads

A DRIVER who had no licence or insurance and failed to provide police with a blood sample has been fined £625 by Manchester magistrates.

Lee Hall, aged 40, of Rosebank Close, Ainsworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offences when he drove a Ford Mondeo on Castle Croft Road, Bury, on November 27 last year and also admitted failing to attend a police station while on bail.

He was banned from applying for a driving licence for 18 months and must pay £147 in costs and charges.

No licence

A SEAT Leon driver who had no licence or insurance has been fined £770 by Manchester magistrates.

The court heard how Junade Ashraf, aged 36, of Philips Park Road East, Whitefield, was caught driving the car on Lime Avenue, Whitefield, on February 6.

He was convicted of the offences and, as well as the fine, was ordered to pay £77 towards the costs of funding victim services and six points were added to his driving record.

Van driver

A MAN who failed to name a van driver to police on January 4 has been fined £660 by Manchester magistrates.

John Hamer, aged 57, of Wash Lane Terrace, was convicted of the offence and also ordered to pay £156 in costs and charges.

Fined for no licence

A SKODA driver who had no licence or insurance has been fined £160 by Manchester magistrates.

Ishan Hayat, aged 30, of Manchester Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was ordered to pay £124 in costs and charges whilst six points were added to his driving record.

No insurance

A BMW driver who had no insurance has been fined £538 by Manchester magistrates.

Roberto Monetti, aged 35, of Valley Mill Lane, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence when he drove the BMW 320 on Manchester Road, Bury, on January 8.

In addition to the fine, six points were added to his licence and he must also pay £143 in costs and charges.
