A pupil from Derby High School has achieved a flush top grades in his GCSEs.

Sohaib Mohammad Uddin, opened his results in front of staff and friends.

He said: “I’m feeling good, I’m going to Holy Cross College now and in future, I want to study medicine at university, I’m not sure which one yet though.

“I’ve had an amazing time but it has been a lot of hard work and revision.”

Sohaib received 9s in all nine of his subjects, which include: business, maths, geography, English literature, English Language, biology, chemistry, physics and computer science.

Speaking on the achievements of the year 11 pupils, Headteacher, Helen Hubert, said: “The Derby High School is once again delighted with the GCSE performance of its students this year.

“The students have faced unprecedented challenges including; school closures, multiple
periods of isolation and remote working.
“Their resilience, determination and hard work has led to them surpassing
expectations - this is truly remarkable.
“All of this would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of our talented staff body, who have worked tirelessly to support our students to excel.
“The key to this success are the strong links the school has developed with parents and carers and we would like to thank them for the support they have provided for their child's education.
“We celebrate the well-deserved successes of the Class of 2022 and are confident that their experiences at The Derby High School will inspire them to make a difference as they journey through life.”
