EURO MP Gary Titley has complained at the highest levels about the baton-wielding Spanish police at the recent Bolton Wanderers game.
He has asked the Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Luise Rodriguez Zapatero, to hold an urgent enquiry into the incidents at the UEFA Cup tie against Atletico Madrid.
The Labour leader said the "sickening scenes" at the Vicente Calderon Stadium should have "no place at a football match" and should never be repeated.
Mr Titley, who lives in Bolton and has an office in Radcliffe, has also urged British foreign secretary David Miliband to intervene, and has asked UEFA to conduct their own investigation.
