Health services in Bury are gearing up to offer eligible people an autumn coronavirus booster jab.

As before, the oldest and most vulnerable people will be called first and residents are being asked to be contacted by the NHS when it is their turn.

Booster jabs can be booked from Monday, September 5, and clinics will start on Monday, September 12 at Bury’s four GP-led venues – the Elizabethan Suite, Prestwich Walk-in Centre, Radcliffe United Reformed Church and Ramsbottom Civic Hall.

Lesley Jones, Bury’s director of public health at the council, said: “Covid vaccinations have saved many lives, and prevented many more people from becoming seriously ill.

"Covid is still around, and new variants are continuing to emerge.

"I urge everyone who is eligible to book a Covid booster and give themselves the maximum protection.”

Eligible people are asked to book via the National Booking Service which you can also reach by calling 119.

Alternatively people can call the council's booking team on 0161 983 2300, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Bury’s clinics will still be offering first and second doses to those who want them.

A full list of upcoming clinics can be found on the council's website.

Covid booster clinics are to move back into Ramsbottom Civic Hall from Monday, September 12 too after a period of being offered in the nearby Ramsbottom Library.

The clinic in the civic hall will operate on a pop-up basis so that events and functions can also be held at the venue.
